Specific Volunteer Opportunities in Massachusetts
and Other New England States

Activities Requiring Occasional Commitment, Mostly Weekends

Public Calendar Raffle Sales (Eastern MA suburban locations, typically outside of supermarkets)

Solicit customers passing by display table to buy raffle tickets. Raffles are conducted in various locations on Fridays and Saturdays (all day) during June each year. Training and materials are provided and volunteers usually work in pairs. Requires at least one full Friday or Saturday during June.

Private Calendar Raffle Sales (Eastern and Central MA, RI, Southern NH, Southern ME).

Sell calendar raffle tickets from May 1 thru June 25 to friends, colleagues, business associates.

There is no up-front cost, and unsold tickets may be returned. Looking for volunteers who think they can sell at least 100 tickets (selling price is $5 or less).

Special Event Staffing (Eastern MA locations)

Help with races, entertainment events, golf tournaments and other special events.


Activities Requiring Occasional Weekday Commitment

Health Fair Participation - Eastern MA (must live in MA North Shore community)

Staff display table and operate facial skin analyzer   at school and public health fairs.

Driving to and from Peabody to pick up and return materials is required.

Activities Requiring Substantial Weekday Commitment

School Contact Confirmation (Suitable for volunteers living in New England and having unlimited phone plans)

This activity, starting early in the school year, involves phoning schools to confirm teacher contact information, and getting contact information for new health teachers, then sending e-mail messages. Phone scripts and e-mail messages are provided. Availability during school hours is essential..

Packaging and Shipping New England School Materials (Must live in or near Peabody, MA)

Requires a commitment of   2-3 hours per day for 3-4 days per week during several months of the school year. Storage of 20 - 30 boxes of classroom materials and packaging is required. All materials and postage are provided.

Contact Development

This activity is suitable for individuals who have an large number of friends, colleagues, and/or business contacts who they are willing to call upon for financial support of MEF mission and events.

Special Event Planning and Coordination

Determine, plan, and coordinate special fundraising events in eastern MA. Experience is essential; having a control freak mindset is a definite plus.
