CONTRIBUTING TO THE MELANOMA EDUCATION FOUNDATION

SPECIAL EVENTS

The Melanoma Education Foundation is a 501(c ) (3) non-profit organization. Contributions are deductible from Federal income taxes to the maximum extent consistent with IRS regulations and individual taxpayer cicumstances.

Your financial support provides life-saving services. Contributions are used for services only; MEF has no administrative or fundraising salaries. There are several ways to contribute.


Direct Contributions

Contribution of used vehicles through Cars Helping America

Your used car, truck, RV, or boat may be worth more to you as a tax deduction than by sale or trade-in. MEF is a member charity of Cars Helping America, a wonderful nationwide organization that will handle all arrangements for pick-up and donation of your resellable vehicle or boat at no cost. Call 1-866-949-3668 (toll-free) or donate on-line at www.carshelpingamerica.org and specify that proceeds go to the Melanoma Education Foundation.

Workplace payroll deduction via America's Charities

The Melanoma Education Foundation may be designated to receive workplace payroll deductions if your company is enrolled in America's Charities. Click here for more information.

Contributions in lieu of special occasion gifts

If you are planning a wedding or other celebration and would like your guests to contribute to a life-saving charity in lieu of gifts please consider designating the Melanoma Education Foundation.

Children who ask their friends to contribute in lieu of birthday gifts will receive certificates of appreciation and personal thank you letters from the president of MEF.

Nenny Necklaces

In memory of Jennifer Linscott Tietgen (Aunt Nen), who died of melanoma at age 27 in 2002, her 6 year old niece, Camier Hall, makes colorful necklaces and sells them to support education and research. Necklaces may be ordered online at www.nennysnecklaces.org.

Annual Calendar Raffle (May 1 - June 30, 2008)

Tickets are available for the eighth annual MEF calendar raffle. Each ticket is entered into 31 drawings starting July 1 and ending July 31. Prizes include overnight stays for two at the Sheraton Boston and Lenox Hotel, Red Sox tickets (reserved field box seats on first base side), restaurant gift cards to Azure, Legal Seafoods, Capital Grille, Oishii, Blue Ginger, Cheesecake Factory, Hardcover Restaurant, Carrabas, gift baskets from Trader Joes and Outback, and many other great prizes.

Inaugural Melanoma Education Foundation 5 mile race and 3 mile walk (11 am, September 21, 2008)

The first annual MEF race and walk will be held at Wompatuck State Park in Hingham, MA at 11 am on Sunday, September 21. See race route.

5 Mile run and 3 mile walk.
Prizes for fastest runners.
High school team competition.
Dana Farber Skin Cancer Educational Van.

Registration: $20 on or before September 10; $25 after September 1.
Fee waived for runners and walkers who raise $100 or more in pledges.
Free T-shirts to first 100 pre-registrants.
